Here is a new video podcast I made today with excerpt quotes from Oprah about faith, purpose, the journey to finding your voice and who you are. I also compiled some other quotes and insights that I recorded toward the end. Hope you enjoy! I just had to share these quotes in a newer and more creative way than just typing them out...so here goes. It's great because you can just turn it on and close your eyes and listen or do chores around the house while listening...I'm trying to make things more accessible and find fun ways to share :)
One of my passions, one of the things that makes me come alive is ministering to people when they are being attacked or in a low place. Using the Word of God, the Sword of the Spirit to cut chains, break them free. The Truth sets them free from the bondage. Bringing them into the light and the Truth. Sharing scripture...the Lord using me as a vessel, an available messenger to dig into the Word when they are too bound up to do so. WOW! Yesterday I was reading Psalm 34 after my friend texted me a verse from it. Then another friend texted me several times about her grandfather passing away and many attacks coming against her.
The Lord guided my eyes over to Psalm 35 and let me just tell you...it was exactly what this friend was going through. I began reading it and with each verse, I got more and more enthralled and excited to share it with her. I could not contain myself. At first I was going to pick a few verses and text them to her and also just tell her to read the whole thing. But I know (from experience) that in those dark places of grief we need someone to spoon feed us. I knew I could not pick a few verses...the whole thing, in it's entirety, was perfect for her. So I picked up the phone and just called. I was just going to read it over her voicemail...but then she surprisingly answered...crying. : ( It broke my heart to hear her in this much pain and sadness. But I was honored that the Lord would let me come alongside her in her suffering.
I know there have been many times when I would just cry on a friends shoulder and their simple presence, just listening to me cry was so powerful. So I listened...hanging onto each and every word and cry she uttered. When the right time came, the Lord prompted me to share the Psalm with her. I first asked her if it would be alright...if she was in a space to receive it. I wanted to respect her boundaries and where she was emotionally. I know there is a time to speak and a time to listen...so I let my words be few and when the time was right I let God do the speaking. I was thrilled when she said yes. I could tell by the tone of her voice that she wanted it. She was hungering for the truth! I didn't study communications and nonverbal language in college for nothing. The tone says everything. It is not so much what we say, but how we say it that makes all the difference. I know I am going off on a tangent...bear with me...it is my A.D.D.
So her tone and her quick reply, coupled with the Holy Spirits leading was the perfect segue. I began reading it to her and as I read it I could hear her crying. It sounded to me like they were tears of relief and hope. Like something was being released from her. Like chains were being broken as she heard the Lord speaking directly to her. It was incredible. I felt the power going through me as I read it aloud. It was not me, I do not get any credit...I was merely an available vessel for the Lord to speak through to His hurting, broken daughter. I can't even explain the exchange we had over the phone...it was incredible. The difference in her voice and even in the way she was crying from the beginning of the phone call to the end was undeniably evident. Glory to God!!!! Victory in Christ!!!! The TRUTH sets us free! His Word is living and active...it came alive before my eyes and spoke directly to us in His perfect timing.
"His faithful promises are your armor and your protection" Psalm 91:4 : )
Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me. Take up shield and buckler; arise and come to my aid....say to my soul 'I am your salvation' Psalm 35:1-3
Attackers gathered against me when I was unaware, they slandered me without ceasing(v. 15)...Rescue my life from their ravages, my precious life from these lions (v.17)
O Lord, you have seen this, be not silent, Do not be far from me, O Lord. Awake and rise to my defense! Contend for me, my God and Lord. Vindicate me in your righteousness, O Lord my God (v. 22-24
My body will rest secure because you will not abandon me...(16:9)
Lord you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places...(16:5-6)
Keep me safe, O God, for in you I take refuge.
I said to the Lord, 'You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing' (16:1-2)
You have made known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with JOY in your presence. (16:11)
Keep me as the APPLE of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings. Psalm 17:8
I was inspired this morning after reading these verses in Daniel, to record them. I read them aloud to my mom and after reading them we got her Matthew Henry Commentary book out and read his commentary on the same verses in Daniel. It was so good that I just had to share it! I was trying to think of the best/most creative way to share...and this is what I came up with : ) It's more fun than just typing out everything I read...plus I truly enjoy reading aloud. Hope you enjoy the verses and the commentary : ) **Both videos are different...the image is the same on the screen at first but they are different.**
The verses-Read by me : )
The commentary- me again : )
"Jesus invites us to become truly rich by seeking what only He could provide: purity, character, righteousness and wisdom. True wealth is not measured by what you have but by who you are in Christ.
In Christ we are rich beyond belief
With wealth the world cannot see;
We have new strength and character,
New righteousness and purity.
The poorest person is he whose only wealth is money." -The Daily Bread
Jesus said that the last shall be first. Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.

I know it's been a while...it's been a wild ride! I took this time to fast from the internet for a while and it was great! My roommate sold her house and I was helping her move out and pack and clean the whole house. I was also packing up everything I have and organizing and downsizing big time. It was so nice...a total cleansing experience. Giving your stuff away to those who truly need it. Wow, it truly is more blessed to give than receive. "Freely you have received, freely give" Matt. 10:8. "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" Matt. 6:21. I cannot take anything with me to heaven anyways. My treasure is not in things, my treasure is in the Lord and in the ones he has entrusted me to LOVE with His love! I have to admit that I've saved over 20 journals over my lifetime and I do not intend on getting rid of them, unless the Lord takes them from me. Yes they are special to me, because most of them are filled with letters I have written to God over the years, poems, songs, reflecting on things, gratitude lists...etc.
So I had to pack up my car with less than 100 pounds of items and then ship it back to California. It was hard determining what to put in my car and what to bring on the plane with me. You would think I would bring the most valuable things with me, and the not so valuable in my car (namely bc the transport company warned that they are not responsible for lost of stolen items). Well I know this, just like the airline cannot 100% guarantee that my bags will arrive or be untampered with. That's reality for ya! But the Lord is my protector and His sovereignty covers everything! I trust Him alone! The way I saw it was that I am just merely giving the Lord back everything He has given to me. None of it was mine to begin with, it all comes from Him. "All I have is your and all you have in mine"-Jesus says in John 17:10. So I gave everything in my car, including my car, and my luggage back to it's rightful owner...God. It was very freeing and liberating. Trusting in His sovereignty and resting in it gives me true freedom. When it's in God's hands it is never out of control, because He IS in control...of everything. So I know if He wants me to have my car, the things in it and my bags...then I will, and if He doesn't then I won't. It is that simple. And I KNOW for a fact that He knows my needs before I ask (Matt. 6:8) so He knows better than I do what I need or do not need. If I have placed anything above Him or before Him, I will lose it and that is okay because I always have HIM. That's what truly matters.
So I when it came down to it I ended up putting the things that are more important to me in my car rather than taking them with me. Here is my reasoning. I put my journals in my car, and my daddy's guitar which I inherited from him when he passed away. I figure that no one (in their right mind) would want some girls journals filled with letters to God, poems, scripture, personal stories...right? Well unless they are just plain mean or super bored hahah and need some juicy reading material. In that case, God will use it to witness to that person...that's a gift in itself. As for the guitar, well it is old, and has more sentimental value than anything else, but again it belongs to God not me so I am just giving it back to Him. End of story. : )
